Justin Kluivert stars in Ajax debut win against PEC Zwolle

Ajax cruised to victory over PEC, marked by the debut of Justin Kluivert, son of club legend Patrick Kluivert.

Justin Kluivert, the son of former Netherlands international Patrick Kluivert, made his Ajax debut during a 3-1 Eredivisie win against PEC Zwolle on Sunday.

Kluivert Jr., 17, replaced the injured Amin Younes in the 39th-minute when the game was goalless and was on the pitch as a Lasse Schone penalty and Hakim Ziyech brace sealed three points for Ajax.

In their official match report Ajax said: "It was a 17 year-old rookie, making his debut, who finally gave Ajax some panache as the season resumed...

The New Saints break Ajax's world record for consecutive wins

The New Saints of the Welsh Premier League broke Ajax's world record with their 27th consecutive win.

Welsh Premier League champions The New Saints have broken the world record for consecutive wins.

The New Saints beat Cefn Druids 2-0 on Friday to seal their 27th win in a row -- breaking the record set by Johan Cruyff's Ajax Amsterdam team in 1972.

Aeron Edwards and Jonathon Routledge scored either side of half-time to seal the record-setting win for the club, after having beaten the same opposition 4-0 four days earlier.

Former Dutch international Rafael van der Vaart revealed how he snubbed a move to Barcelona at the age of 16, opting to prove his worth at Ajax Amsterdam.

Van der Vaart, 33, was one of the brightest stars of his generation but despite firm interests from some of Europe's biggest clubs, he chose to stay at Ajax from 2000 to 2005 where he amassed 117 appearances, scoring 52 goals in the process.

Jan Vertonghen feeling homesick, may return to Belgium - mother

Jan Vertonghen is homesick and could return to Belgium or Amsterdam soon, according to the Tottenham Hotspur defender's mother.

Vertonghen, 29, who joined Tottenham from Ajax in 2012, agreed a new deal with the club until 2020 earlier this month.

However, his mother Ria Mattheeuws told Studio Brussel: "Jan is starting to miss home. I see him coming back soon -- we will see. Home could also mean Amsterdam. His girlfriend is from there."
