AC Milan's young Italian duo building a foundation for success

Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and defender Alessio Romagnoli have helped spearhead Milan's Serie A renaissance.
Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and defender Alessio Romagnoli have helped spearhead Milan's Serie A renaissance.

During AC Milan's struggles in recent years, club President Silvio Berlusconi continuously promised supporters that a clear strategy was in place. It was essentially to build the squad around a core of young homegrown players that would eventually usher in a new era of success.

After seemingly neglecting that vision for some time, coupled with several failures in the transfer market, that idea is now firmly taking shape at the San Siro.

A closer look at the Rossoneri's squad shows that half...

Milan stay over Leicester move was 'right choice' - M'Baye Niang

M'Baye Niang had a goal and an assist as AC Milan picked up a crucial win over Inter Milan to move within two points of fifth place.
M'Baye Niang celebrates his goal against Sampdoria.

AC Milan forward M'Baye Niang has no regrets about his move to Leicester City falling through this winter, insisting that he always preferred to stay in Italy.

Niang, 21, is challenging for a place in the Europa League with the Rossoneri, rather than pushing for the Premier League title with the Foxes after Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri chose not to follow up with a bid for the France under-21 international.

"Staying with Milan was the right choice," Niang said in La Gazzetta dello Sport. "I...

Gianluigi Donnarumma shines but AC Milan held by Udinese

Gianluigi Donnarumma was impressive as AC Milan claimed a draw at home to Udinese on Sunday.

AC Milan were unable to make it three consecutive Serie A wins on Sunday afternoon, as Udinese secured a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the San Siro.

Despite dominating for large periods of the game, the Rossoneri came up short in their bid to overturn their deficit after Pablo Armero came back to haunt his former side by giving the Zebrette the lead. M'Baye Niang equalised for the hosts but a winner was not forthcoming.

Udinese checked AC Milan's rise up the Serie A table by holding the Rossoneri to a 1-1 draw at San Siro.

Former Rossoneri defender Pablo Armero made life difficult for Sinisa Mihajlovic's men, who had been pursuing a third straight win, with his first-half opener and Milan struggled to respond.

M'Baye Niang did fire an equaliser shortly after half-time but the hosts had missed an opportunity to close the gap on the nearest Champions League place to just four points.

Armero's goal arrived in the 18th...

Juve's Paulo Dybala could have joined AC Milan but for Galliani - Zamparini

Paulo Dybala has been superb since moving from Palermo to Juventus.

AC Milan missed out on the signing of Paulo Dybala due to the "antics" of their general manager Adriano Galliani, according to Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini.

Zamparini says that the Rossoneri were in pole position to sign Dybala, who has since scored 12 goals for Juventus after joining them last summer.

Galliani's games saw Milan miss out and Zamparini has warned him to be more careful if he wishes to sign Franco Vazquez from Palermo at the end of the season.

"I'm going to be talking about...
