Anthony Limbombe extends Club Brugge deal

Anthony Limbombe has signed a new contract with Club Brugge which should keep him at the club until 2021, the Jupiler League leaders confirmed on their official website.

As a reward for his recent form, the Belgo-Congolese wideman was offered a two-year extension on his current deal, which had been set to run until the end of next season.

23-year-old Limbombe arrived at Bruges from NEC Nijmegen in 2016, and has steadily emerged as a key player for the Blauw-Zwart.

He has five goals and seven assists so far this season for Ivan Leko's table toppers and has been an effective presence down the left flank.

"I'm very happy to have signed for two more seasons," said Limbombe, as per Nieuws Blad. "I'm delighted that the board, the staff and all of the team have confidence in me and have proved it with this contract extension.

"Last season I experienced a few difficult months with my injury, but I returned to my level thanks to the [APPUI] of all of the club.

"This season, I feel at my best - physically speaking - and this has has allowed me to show well what I can do on the pitch," he added.

"As a team, we've already achieved some beautiful things this year, but we're certainly not yet champions, even if we don't fear anyone and continue to give everything."

Internationally, Mechelen-born Limbombe has represented Belgium up to U-19 level, but is eligible for the DRC.
