Jorge Sampaoli to stay on as Chile coach despite FIFA investigation

Chile coach Jorge Sampaoli says he will stay in the job despite the head of the national federation having pleaded guilty in the United States to corruption charges.

Federation president Sergio Jadue is among more than a dozen South American officials who had been indicted or pleaded guilty in the last six months as U.S. and Swiss authorities investigate widespread corruption at FIFA.

Sampaoli said in a statement on Friday that he is waiting until early next year to determine the direction of the Chilean federation.

He led Chile to the Copa America title earlier this year and also took the side the final 16 of last year's World Cup.

The Argentina-born Sampaoli is under contract until the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
