Sampaoli wants to stay with Chile

SANTIAGO, Chile -- Chile coach Jorge Sampaoli says he wants to stay in the job for when the country hosts next year's Copa America.

Speaking Friday in his first news conference since losing to Brazil in the round of 16 at the World Cup, Sampaoli said "we have a commitment with Chilean football until the end of the Copa America.''

He left the door open, saying his loyalty was to Sergio Jadue, the head of the Chilean football federation. The football body holds elections at the end of the year.

Sampaoli says "if [Jadue] continues, there is no doubt we will continue."

The Argentine coach has been linked with a move to a European club team. Chile lost 3-2 on penalties to Brazil after a 1-1 draw.
