Chelsea's Willian takes legal action over forged agent letter

Chelsea midfielder Willian has told his lawyers to take action over a forged letter that circulated on the "football market" claiming he had given authority to another agent to represent him.

In a post onĀ Instagram, the Brazi international published a picture of the letter, in which a man claiming to be a FIFA-registered agent called Denirobson Dias grants permission to another man by the name of Renee Pinheiro Anunciacao to act on behalf of the winger.

Neither "agent" has any relationship with Willian, and in a message alongside the picture the Chelsea star pledged to take legal action over the letter, which he says contains a forgery of his signature.

"I would like to clarify that I never signed such letter, the content of which I completely deny," he said.

"Finally, since there seems to be clear evidence that my signature has been forged, or anyway misused, I hereby inform that my lawyers are already instructed to proceed with all appropriate legal measures before any competent courts or authorities.

"I hope I have clarified the matter and any possible misunderstanding."

Willian's pronouncement comes as he is set for talks with Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri to explain why he returned to London five days after he was expected to report at Cobham for preseason training.

Sources told ESPN Brasil that the delay was caused by an expired passport, and Chelsea as a club have no immediate concerns about his attitude or commitment in a summer in which Barcelona and Manchester United have both expressed an interest in signing him.

But speaking after Chelsea's friendly defeat against Arsenal in Dublin on Wednesday, Sarri admitted he was "not happy" about the situation and would talk to Willian when he returned to Cobham.

Willian trained alone at Cobham on Wednesday afternoon and is expected to be available for Chelsea's clash with Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday, though he is unlikely to start.
