BRIGHTON -- Eden Hazard has warned that Chelsea must take an attacking mindset to the Emirates Stadium if they want to overcome Arsenal in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semifinal on Wednesday.
Arsenal held Chelsea to a goalless draw in a first leg of few chances at Stamford Bridge earlier this month but will be playing their first game without Alexis Sanchez, who completed his protracted move to rivals Manchester United on Monday.
Antonio Conte has only won once in seven matches in all competitions against Arsene Wenger since taking over as Chelsea head coach, but Hazard is adamant that there will be no room for caution when they take on the Gunners on Wednesday.
"It's a semifinal," Hazard said after the Brighton victory. "We will go there to win, for sure. If we are thinking to defend against Arsenal it's a bad thing, because we need to score goals. We will see the team, maybe the manager can change some players.
"We will go there to win the game because we want to win trophies at the end, and the league cup is a good trophy."
Chelsea and Arsenal have already met twice in January, playing out a thrilling 2-2 draw in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium before the Carabao Cup stalemate at Stamford Bridge, and Hazard admitted that he would relish another open battle.
Asked if he expected Wednesday's match to follow the pattern of the 2-2, he replied: "I hope! We need to find solutions to create problems for them. We will go there to win the game, create chances because if we don't create chances we can't score. It's that simple."
Hazard has made a number of decisive contributions for Chelsea against Arsenal in recent years, most notably a spectacular solo goal at Stamford Bridge last season, and he added that playing in important matches helps him to take his game to another level.
"Big games are special because you know everyone is watching," he said. "It's a semifinal and our fans want Chelsea in finals, so they are watching the game. The Emirates Stadium is good with a lot of fans. It's the kind of night you want to shine in."
