Chelsea's Victor Moses vows to repay Antonio Conte for first-team chance

Victor Moses is determined to pay back Antonio Conte after finally being handed a chance at Chelsea following three spells out on loan in as many years at the club

After season-long deals at Liverpool, Stoke and West Ham, a bright preseason has convinced the Italian manager to finally keep the Nigeria international around.

Moses, 25, is grateful for the opportunity and, after featuring three times already this season and scoring in Chelsea's 3-2 League Cup victory over Bristol Rovers, feels he is ready to contribute.

"Every preseason I feel I've done well and it's just about being given a chance," Moses told the Times. "That was the thing that was missing. I've got that with this manager.

"I just want to pay him back by working hard for the team. I want to do the right thing and also to enjoy myself on the pitch. I'm excited to get on the score-sheet, it was important for me."

The last few years have been a difficult time for Moses, who also impressed in preseason under Jose Mourinho, only to be farmed out on loan late in the transfer window.

Game time was difficult to come by at Liverpool as the Reds went for the title, while injuries curtailed his impact at Stoke City and West Ham. But talk of another loan to Crystal Palace or West Brom this summer has quickly been quashed.

Despite a collective £75m spent on Juan Cuadrado, Mohamed Salah, Andre Schurrle and Pedro Rodriguez, Moses has remained calm and convinced that he can cut it as a first-team option on the wing at Stamford Bridge.

"I've always believed in the ability and the talent I've got," Moses said. "There's still a lot to come from me for the club; there's still a lot I want to do for the club.

"I just want to keep on going -- after all the loans I want to be here and help the club."
