Chelsea's Diego Costa out with injury, Euro 2016 availability not certain

LONDON -- Diego Costa will miss Chelsea's final Premier League match against newly crowned champions Leicester City with a hamstring injury, and interim manager Guus Hiddink says he is not sure if the striker will recover in time to represent Spain at Euro 2016.

Costa, 27, did not travel with the Chelsea squad to Merseyside for Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield, as he nurses the latest in a series of hamstring problems that have plagued his two seasons in English football.

Branislav Ivanovic also missed the Liverpool game with a groin injury picked up in Saturday's defeat to Sunderland, and did not participate fully in training at Cobham on Thursday and Friday.

Hiddink says he will make a late decision on the Serb's availability, but goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is expected to return after missing the draw at Anfield through illness.

"Diego Costa will be out with his hamstring [injury]," Hiddink said. "Thibaut was on the pitch again today, training, and I think he will be okay for the weekend. Diego, with a good rest and training, might be fit for the Euros. Ivanovic was on the pitch but not fully. We'll see if he can play or be there."

Sunday's match will mark Hiddink's second farewell from Stamford Bridge, and while this season cannot match his departure as an FA Cup winner in his first interim spell in 2009, the Dutchman says he will miss managing Chelsea.

"Of course, I will be emotional," he added. "In the two spells which I've experienced here, the passion towards football was already general but the affection to the club has grown in those two spells.

"It's not just a caretaker situation to take the job for a certain period and that's it. In these periods I've had a lot of affection in this club. So there will be emotion of course."
