LONDON -- John Terry has no interest in becoming player-manager of Brondby next season, sources have confirmed to ESPN FC.
Reports in England on Monday claimed that Terry has been been sounded out by Brondby owner Jan Bech Andersen over the possibility of starting his managerial career with the Danish giants when his Chelsea contract runs out in the summer.
Brondby are currently under the interim management of Aurelijus Skarbalius after previous boss Thomas Frank quit last week due to being publicly criticised by Andersen on a fans forum.
But while sources tell ESPN FC that Andersen enjoys a long-standing friendship with Terry, those close to the 35-year-old insist he remains focused on continuing his full-time playing career next season, at Stamford Bridge or elsewhere.
Terry revealed in January that he expected to leave Chelsea at the end of the season after being informed that no offer of a contract extension was forthcoming, though the Blues subsequently insisted that "channels of dialogue" will remain open with their captain over his future.
Collecting a special prize for his "Outstanding Contribution" to London football at the London Football Awards earlier this month, Terry reiterated that no further talks had taken place but insisted he remains "very hopeful" of being able to continue his 18-year professional career at Chelsea next season.
Asked where a potential managerial career figured in his future aspirations, Terry replied: "It probably was [an ambition] a couple of years ago. It's taken a bit longer than I expected.
"But for me it's changed. I'm not sure I want to go into that. I've had so many managers and learned so much. Basically if I don't dip my toe in at some point in my career ...
"But while I've got a couple of years left, the main thing for me is to fully focus on that and give everything."
Terry's future remains the subject of intense speculation. Earlier this year Al Arabi coach and Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola admitted he would be interested in bringing the Chelsea captain to Qatar.
While former teammate Frank Lampard jokingly offered to buy the plane ticket if Terry decided to join him at MLS side New York City FC.
Various clubs from the Chinese Super League are also reported to be prepared to make lucrative offers for Terry, but the 35-year-old's preference is to stay at Chelsea if possible.
