Jose Mourinho plays down Diego Costa argument - 'We had kisses and cuddles'

Jose Mourinho has played down a half-time argument with Diego Costa during Chelsea's Champions League at Maccabi Tel-Aviv, saying that the pair had a "kiss and cuddle" to make up.

Mourinho and Costa were seen arguing just before half-time with the Blues a goal ahead, with back-up striker Loic Remy then sent to warm up.

But the Portuguese coach opted to keep the 27-year-old Spain international on the pitch for the full 90 minutes as Chelsea cruised to a 4-0 victory in Israel, and Mourinho says the argument came after the striker failed to react to a chance.

"I wanted him to do a certain movement that he didn't," said Mourinho of the striker.

"I was disappointed. I reacted. He reacted too. At half-time in the dressing room [there were] a few kisses and a few cuddles."

Costa has struggled for goals this term after an impressive debut season in England to help Chelsea lift the Premier League title, but scored the winner against Norwich on Saturday.

The Spain international completed the match, but Eden Hazard did not, substituted as Mourinho sought fresh legs with which to attack Maccabi.

"I did the change because I have Pedro," Mourinho said.

The Blues boss was also asked about comments made by Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore, who expressed a preference for new champions each season.

"To Mr Scudamore's words, I just laugh," Mourinho said.
