Jose Mourinho tight-lipped after Chelsea loss to Liverpool

Jose Mourinho told BT Sport he had "nothing to say" after his Chelsea side were beaten 3-1 at home by Liverpool on Saturday.

Mourinho went into the match amid speculation he could lose his job with a defeat, but the fans at Stamford Bridge made a clear show of support for their manager during the match.

Chelsea responded on the field when Ramires headed home early on, but goals from Philippe Coutinho after side of half-time and a late strike from Christian Benteke saw Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp claim his first Premier League win.

Mourinho remained tight-lipped when asked after the game about how the match got away from Chelsea.

"I have nothing, nothing to say," he said. "Nothing. Nothing to say."

Asked about Lucas Leiva avoiding a second yellow card for his foul on Ramires when the score was 1-1, he repeated: "Nothing to say. I have nothing to say."

On Diego Costa's clash with Martin Skrtel, he added: "I have nothing to say. I'm so sorry -- I have nothing to say."

He elaborated slightly when asked whether he had a message for the supporters, who had chanted Mourinho's name after Chelsea fell behind, saying: "The fans are not stupid."

Mourinho had said before the game that he was not worried about his job and said "no" when asked whether he was any more worried after this latest defeat.

He then shook his head when asked if he had any thoughts on the performance of his team, saying: "No, not at all."

He spoke more at his postmatch news conference, although he challenged the journalists in attendance over the decisions that had contributed to the result, saying: "I'd like to listen more than being questioned."

He was asked how a side that cantered to the title in May had fallen off the pace so much.

"Did you see the game?" he responded.

On the Lucas incident, he said: "What do you think? You are not punished by FA. I am punished if I tell. You are not punished."

Former referee Howard Webb, who now works as an analyst for BT, said Costa should have have been punished for his clash with Skrtel.

"Howard Webb says," Mourinho said. "Howard Webb says."

He suggested he would be punished if he acted as Klopp acted during the game, saying: "You have doubts? I cannot say because I am punished."

He added: "The players, they tried. You could feel the attitude. You could feel the desire and that the game was 50/50.

"The recognition of our work is just by getting results. We have some players that are really sad in the dressing room and I am full of respect for them but we see match after match that they are not getting the respect they deserve.

"I am really, really sorry with that lack of respect for professionals."

Asked what he meant by a lack of respect, he told journalists: "You are all intelligent guys. If you want to write, you write.

"Next press conference I will bring you nice glasses. Maybe you see the game in a better way."

He pointed to the fact Coutinho's equaliser came after the allotted two minutes' injury time at the end of the first half.

"There are things that are out of our hands,'' he said. "Two minutes' extra time, we concede the goal on two minutes 35 seconds.

"Then, what happened in the second half, everything is a consequence of some crucial moments.

"Moments that the stadium saw, the players more than see, the players felt it. From now, what happens is just a consequence."

However, he suggested that the consequence would not be his dismissal.

Asked if he thought he would now be sacked, he said: "No, I don't."

He said that he expected to be given enough time to turn it around and concluded the news conference by saying: "I go home, I go find a sad family.

"I will try to watch some of the rugby [World Cup final] and disconnect a little bit from this. Then I will start preparing the training session for tomorrow morning and the game for Wednesday [against Dynamo Kiev]."
