Jose Mourinho expressed his disappointment with his own medical staff after Chelsea's 2-2 draw with Swansea on Saturday. Rather than focus on his team's shortcomings or the officials -- who sent off Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois -- Mourinho used his news conference to direct attention at his physios in an incident that did not affect the final result. First-team doctor Eva Carneiro and physiotherapist Jon Fearn came on the pitch in stoppage time to treat Eden Hazard while Chelsea were trying to see out the game. The medical staff's decision to run out to Hazard meant the midfielder had to go the sidelines, temporarily reducing Chelsea to nine players while Swansea pushed forward. Although Swansea's attack came to nothing, Mourinho was still upset about the incident after the game. "I wasn't happy with my medical staff because even if you are a medical doctor or secretary on the bench, you have to understand the game," Mourinho said. "If you go to the pitch to assist a player, then you must be sure that a player has a serious problem. "I was sure that Eden didn't have a serious problem. He had a knock and was very tired. "My medical department left me with eight fit outfield players in a counter-attack after a set piece and we were worried we didn't have enough players left." Even short-handed, Chelsea were able to see out the draw to avoid becoming the first defending Premier League champions to lose their first game of the following season.
