Chelsea's Diego Costa and Gary Cahill fit for Community Shield clash

LONDON -- Jose Mourinho has said Diego Costa and Gary Cahill will be fit to face Arsenal in Sunday's Community Shield at Wembley.

Costa was taken off during Tuesday's friendly victory over Barcelona in the United States and Mourinho said afterwards that the Spain international "felt a little thing in his hamstring."

The Chelsea boss had also said Cahill "has a chance of a broken nose" after he picked up an injury in the same match, but he told journalists at a news conference on Friday that the pair will both be available this weekend.

"All good... all good," Mourinho said.

Costa has suffered hamstring issues dating back to his time at Atletico Madrid, and his problems restricted him to 23 Premier League starts last season, but Mourinho said he is not overly concerned about the 26-year-old's long-term condition.

Asked whether Costa would be injury-free, he said: "I believe ... but I'm not worried about it. I go match after match. Fantastic group of strikers, so no problem.

"We have three top strikers. If one is injured, we have two. No concerns, no protections. It's a position where we're very strong."

Mourinho also said that the Community Shield matters more than a friendly but was less significant than a league game.

"I think it's in between," he said. "It's not a friendly like against Barcelona, Paris Saint Germain or Arsenal against Wolfsburg -- it's more than that -- but it's less than a Premier League match.

"We lost against [New York] Red Bulls [in preseason] and we were not happy, so it's normal that we always try to play for a result, and Community Shield has a motivation, obviously different than just a friendly or just a summer tournament.

"I would say it's the start of the competition."
