John Terry 'delighted' Radamel Falcao is with Chelsea

Chelsea captain John Terry believes his club pulled off one of the transfer coups of the summer when they signed Radamel Falcao on a loan deal from Monaco.

While the Colombian struggled to make his mark during a loan spell at Manchester United last season, Terry has suggested he was one of the two more difficult strikers he came up against in Chelsea's title winning campaign and he is backing the striker to prove his worth in a blue shirt.

Falcao was a starter for United as they lost 1-0 to Chelsea last April, but his performance left a lasting impression on the two defenders -- who implored Jose Mourinho to sign him -- he lined up against at Stamford Bridge.

"I honestly think Falcao is going to be a top, top player," Terry said. "When we played against him at the Bridge in April, after about 10 minutes, I said to Gary Cahill, 'We've got to be on it today -- he's right up for it'.

"He was hungry, he was sharp and he has been showing that in training since he has joined us.

"For me, him and Harry Kane [Tottenham] were the best players I came up against last season. Literally after two minutes of that game, he was backing in, showing the movement as well.

"We had a little tussle on the floor 10 to 15 minutes later. He was hungry and his movement and first touch were excellent. We are delighted to have him here."

Falcao scored just four goals in 26 Premier League appearances for United last season, although he only made 12 starts for Louis van Gaal's side before he was released at the end of the season.

Now the 29-year-old forward will look to make a quick impact in Sunday's Community Shield game against Arsenal at Wembley, where he is likely to start on the bench behind Chelsea's lead striker Diego Costa.
