Sir Alex Ferguson: Jose Mourinho set for very successful years at Chelsea

Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has praised Jose Mourinho and predicts the coach will have a "very successful few years" at Chelsea.

Mourinho was named Premier League Manager of the Season after winning the title and the Capital One Cup, but was not on hand to collect the League Managers' Association award on Tuesday night as he was attending Chelsea's Player of the Year awards.

The Portuguese boss accepted the award via a video acceptance speech, and Ferguson -- who won 11 Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues at Old Trafford -- is predicting more silverware for the Blues after a domestic double this year.

"He's a successful man, a winner," Ferguson said when announcing the award at Tuesday's ceremony. "He deserves the award. I thought he had the best squad. John Terry played every game.

"Champions will always be the ones to beat. Jose knows his squad well. He's settled. It's going to be a very successful few years for Chelsea."

Mourinho won his third English league title during his second spell at Stamford Bridge, having lifted the trophy in 2005 and 2006 before departing in 2007.

He went on to win the Treble at Inter Milan as well as a La Liga title with Real Madrid before returning to Chelsea in 2013, leading the Blues to two trophies in his second season back in West London.

The Portuguese mocked critics of Chelsea's tactical approach with a tongue-in-cheek speech at his club's end of season awards dinner on Tuesday, telling a story about three other teams who had kits not dissimilar to Manchester United's, Manchester City's and Arsenal's.
