Jose Mourinho glad Chelsea's title win did not come in 'easier' division

LONDON -- Jose Mourinho said his Premier League title victory with Chelsea means more because he chose "the most difficult league in Europe" rather than one "even where the kit man is champion."

Mourinho was speaking at his postmatch news conference after his side had beaten Crystal Palace 1-0 thanks to an Eden Hazard goal that secured the 2014-15 Premier League trophy.

It was Chelsea's first league title in five years, whereas the likes of the Portuguese's rival coach Pep Guardiola recently led Bayern Munich to their third Bundesliga in a row.

Mourinho said: "It means... when you work so hard and you are champions, you feel you got what you deserve. That good feeling. For me, maybe a special feeling because I'm not the smartest guy to choose countries and clubs.

"I could choose another club in another country where it's easier to be champions, but I chose the most difficult league in Europe. A club where I was happy before. In my country, they say don't go back somewhere you were happy before because you risk that. So I took that risk. I'm so happy to win another Premier League title."

Mourinho added: "I was champion in every club I coached. Porto, Inter, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Chelsea again. Every title was important for different reasons.

"To win the title in Spain with 100 points against the best Barcelona ever was a big achievement, one I enjoyed so much. But maybe in the future I have to be smarter and choose another country, another club where everybody is champions, even where the kit man is champion coaching in some countries... I still enjoy to be tired after a very difficult match."

Mourinho also had an enigmatic response for those who questioned the manner in which Chelsea won the title.

He said: "The people who have a big face to say we don't deserve it are the ones who, in my country, we say 'the dogs bark and the caravan goes by.'

"Today was not a game to enjoy. It was a game to finish the job. We needed that at this moment. We have injuries, we have people who are getting tired when the fight for the last points is arriving.

"We feel the pressure. Obviously, this team now is leading on the strategic side and the team mentality, fundamentals in the game. We've shown everything since day one.

"Everything football demands from a team, we had. We had fantastic attacking football, fantastic domination, high percentages of ball possession, low percentages, defended amazingly well.

"Crystal Palace gave us a counter-attacking game. We coped with that. We scored our goal, changed the team in the second half, controlled possession, the destiny of the game.

"In the last part they gave us a game with one target man. Then a game with two target men in the last 10 minutes. We coped with that. We did everything the team needs to do. That's why we're champions. That's why we deserve it. Everybody knows that."
