Chelsea 'don't want to sell' Oscar, says Jose Mourinho

Chelsea don't want to sell Oscar and are not considering a sale this summer, according to Jose Mourinho.

Oscar, 23, has seemed to have slightly fallen out of favour of late, as he has been substituted more by Mourinho and started the recent 1-0 win over QPR on the bench.

There has even been speculation that the Chelsea manager was unimpressed with the £25 million midfielder's outspoken contribution to a team meeting following the Champions League elimination to Paris Saint-Germain.

But Mourinho dismissed all of that, and pointed to Oscar's long-term contract, which was signed in November and will not run out until 2019.

"Of course [Chelsea want him to stay]," Mourinho said. "He just signed a contract a few months ago. He's one of the players with the best contracts, a long-term contract, a 23-year-old. He's in the best period of his career. Obviously we don't want to sell."

Mourinho also claimed that new arrival Juan Cuadrado will be "fantastic" next season, once he's trained up to the specific requirements of the Premier League.

Having signed from Fiorentina for £28m in January, the Colombian has barely featured, but Mourinho said that was merely down to adjusting to a different style of football.

He said: "I just know that it's different to play in Italy than to play in England, different to play for Fiorentina than for Chelsea. A player needs time, and I am ready to give him time. The club is ready to give him time. It looks like he's ready to have this time.

"Next season, I believe he can have a fantastic season. But if he feels pressure in the sense of having to play every game, or play every time because he has the Copa America in the summer, I want to be fair... I respect all the national teams, Colombia no exception, but I coach Chelsea.

"I do the best for Chelsea and the players. No problem with Cuadrado. He will have his time, step by step, but he needs a bit of time. Sometimes players are not given time."
