Chelsea striker Diego Costa passed fit to play against Everton

Diego Costa has been passed fit for Chelsea's trip to Everton on Saturday, after Jose Mourinho earlier confirmed his injury is not as bad as it first seemed.

Despite initial fears that the Spain striker could be out for up to six weeks because of hamstring trouble, he passed a late fitness test to be fit for the clash at Goodison Park.

"Well, I think you have to call [the club] after the training session because at this moment I can't say much," Mourinho had said at his earlier news conference. "We are trying everything for him to play tomorrow. He didn't train for the last two days, but today is the last day.

"We must make a decision to select him or not. He has to try a light training session to see if the reaction is positive. If it's positive, we'll take him to Everton to play or be on the bench. Let's see. If the reaction is not positive today, obviously we don't select him. At this moment, I don't know much."

Mourinho does know, however, that the injury is not as bad as first feared.

"Yes. It's a better scenario, but what matters now is the match tomorrow, not the match in three or four weeks time," he added. "He's a doubt. Everyone else is fit, yes."
