Brazil great Ronaldinho prepared to 'help' Chapecoense - agent

Former Barcelona and Brazil great Ronaldinho is willing to help Chapecoense following the plane crash in Colombia that killed most of the team members, according to his agent.

Ronaldinho, 36, has received numerous messages from his fans on social media, asking him to play again following Monday's tragedy in Medellin that took the lives of 71 people, including 19 Chapecoense players.

"Everyone is still shaken, it is a very difficult time," Ronaldinho's agent and brother, Roberto Assis told GloboEsporte. "As much as we can do, we will help.

"I do not know if it would just be a game or a [contractual] link. Looking ahead, if there's contact, we can talk. It touches us that Ronaldinho is remembered when it comes to helping and that makes us think. I can only say that we are here and we want to help."

Ronaldinho was particularly affected by the death of Chapecoense right-back Matheus Bibeco, a family friend who, like Ronaldinho, also started his career at his home club Gremio.

He posted a photograph of a game he played against Matheus with a message on his Instagram account alongside the message: "Go in peace Matheus! My condolences to your family! I wish them all the strength and peace going forward."

Two-time FIFA World Player of the Year Ronaldinho has not played since leaving Fluminense in September 2015.

Ronaldinho, who also played for Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan in Europe and won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002 and a Champions League with Barcelona in the 2005-06 campaign, would be the ideal candidate to help Chapecoense, according to his agent.

"Ronaldinho's name was mentioned because he's loved and without a club," Assis said.

"He fits the profile and can be the right guy. But at the moment, we want to help families and it wouldn't be right to create expectations for now.

"As Brazilians, we feel involved. We are together."
