Iago Aspas signs contract extension with Celta Vigo until 2022
Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas has agreed a contract extension tying him to the club until 2022.
Aspas, 29, has scored 21 goals in all competitions for Celta this season and is the highest-scoring Spaniard in La Liga with 15, leaving him behind only Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Cristiano Ronaldo in the overall charts.
That form saw the former Liverpool player win his first Spain cap in November, when he scored a late goal in the 2-2 draw with England.
"Unbeatable news for Celta and their fans," the club said in a statement. "Aspas will play in light blue until 2022."
Aspas came up through Celta's youth ranks and returned to the Galician club in 2015 after two largely unsuccessful years at Liverpool and Sevilla.
