Queen Park Rangers coach Harry Redknapp expects a drastic improvement from his players when they face Burton Albion in Wednesday's Capital One Cup second round.

QPR were thrashed 4-0 by Redknapp's former team Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday's Premier League game at White Hart Lane.

"We lacked energy and I was disappointed with that aspect of our play," he said to www.qpr.co.uk. "There was no urgency or intensity to our game and that's not good enough.

"We were sloppy from the very first minute and we didn't get out of it."

The derby defeat followed their 1-0 setback at home to Hull City, QPR's first game back in the top flight.

The Hoops travel to the Pirelli Stadium desperate to make amends for their slow start to the season.

"We've got to work hard on the training ground," Redknapp said. "We've got a game on Wednesday so we've got to try and put it right."

Redknapp will have all of his players available with the exception of new signing Eduardo Vargas.

The Chile forward is set to miss the encounter against the League Two side as he has yet to receive his work permit.

Unlike QPR, Gary Rowett's side have enjoyed a strong start to the campaign and remain unbeaten.

Burton won their opening three league games before Saturday's 1-1 draw at Newport County.

They beat Wigan Athletic 2-1 in round one of this competition and are confident they can upset QPR.

"We just need to keep doing what we are doing," Brewers midfielder Callum McFadzean told www.burtonalbionfc.co.uk.

"Every game we go into we try to dominate in possession.

"It's good at the moment as we can mix it up as well as keeping the ball, so things are good at the minute.

"I'm very confident this run can continue."

The hosts will be without midfield trio Lee Bell, Damien McCrory and Jimmy Phillips, all sidelined with knee injuries.
