FA Cup, Copa del Rey could be played after 2022 Qatar World Cup

One of the biggest issues facing the next FIFA president is the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

LONDON -- English and Spanish cup competitions could be completed in June 2022, after a World Cup in Qatar, under proposals being presented to FIFA next week by leading European clubs.

The European Club Association is proposing an April-May timeframe for the World Cup, arguing it would be less disruptive to the season than FIFA president Sepp Blatter's favoured November-December solution for avoiding playing in the fiercest summer heat in Qatar.

Ryan Taylor: Newcastle return after 2 years at Manchester City a 'fairytale'

ESPN FC's Craig Burley questions Manchester City's recent form following their latest slip up in a 2-nil loss to Newcastle United in the Capital One Cup.

Ryan Taylor described Newcastle United's win at Manchester City in the Capital One Cup as a "fairytale" after making his first appearance for the Magpies for more than two years.

Taylor, 30, last played for Newcastle in August 2012 before back-to-back cruciate knee ligament injuries kept the versatile midfielder out of first-team action for 26 months.

Mark Hughes thought Stoke had chance to win before red card

Stoke's Peter Crouch leaves the field after being sent off by referee Lee Mason.

Stoke boss Mark Hughes was frustrated after seeing his side rally back from two goals only to lose 3-2 to Southampton in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday.

The Potters made amends for a lacklustre first-half display in which they fell 2-0 down by fighting back and levelling through Mame Biram Diouf with eight minutes remaining.
