AS Vita Club cruise as Enyimba get thumped

AS Vita Club stormed to the top of their CAF Confederation Cup Group A with a 3-1 victory over Ivorian side ASEC Mimosas in the second round of matches in the pool on Wednesday night.

The DR Congo side cruised to the home victory after a brace from Emmanuel Ngudikana and a further strike via Ngonda Muzinga handed them the three points.

Gbagnon Badie had earlier given ASEC the lead, but the Ivorians wilted in the second period.

Earlier in the same pool, Ghana side Aduna Stars played to a thrilling 3-3 draw with Raja Casablanca of Morocco after the North African club had led the match on three occasions.

Mahmoud Benhalib scored twice for Raja as they seized control of the tie into the dying stages, but an equaliser five minutes into injury-time from Nathaniel Asamoah rescued a point for the home side.

Ayoub El Kaabi scored a brace as Moroccan club Berkane moved to the top of Group B with a 2-0 victory over UD Songo in Mozambique.

Sudanese side Al-Hilal and Egyptian outfit El Masry played to a 1-1 draw in the other fixture in the pool.

Ivorian club Williamsville AC are top of Group C after they played to a 1-1 draw with Malian side Djoliba. Mohamed Niapegue put the Mali club ahead, but Jean Francis N'Da rescued a point late on for the Ivorians,

CARA Brazzaville caused something of a surprise with a 3-0 victory over Enyimba of Nigeria in the other match in the pool.

Racine Louamba, Cabwey Kivutuka and Dicha Liema were on target for the home side, all inside the opening 19 minutes of the game.

USM Alger retained top spot in Group D, despite a 0-0 away draw with Kenyan outfit Gor Mahia.

The other match in the pool between Rwandan outfit Rayon Sports and Young Africans from Tanzania also ended in a 0-0 draw.
