Pitso Mosimane praised his Mamelodi Sundowns players' mentality after a 2-0 aggregate win against Rayon Sports which saw them reach the CAF Champions League group stages.

The Brazilians had drawn the first leg 0-0 in Burundi, but after withstanding some early pressure managed to get the job done in Tshwane, with Wayne Arendse and Sibusiso Vilakazi scoring either side of the break.

"The first half was pleasing for me with a rain-soaked pitch," Mosimane said after the game. "These boys showed integrity. They fought. The mentality was different from the other games we've been playing lately.

"On a pitch like this, they never complained about the pitch being too heavy. They competed against strong boys. Percy [Tau] fought, Sbu Vilakazi fought also. The first half was very good.

"I don't care about the second half. The pitch was okay, we could play our own game. But the first half they showed integrity. They showed that they can play Champions League under any conditions."

The Champions League group stages get underway on the first weekend in May.
