FIFA World Rankings: Burkina Faso climb, Nigeria unmoved

Burkina Faso were Africa's most notable climbers in the latest edition of the FIFA World Rankings, while Nigeria and the rest of the continent's giants largely remained unmoved.

A quiet month of international football ensured there was minimal change in the global standings, with Africa's sides no different.

Egypt, dropping one place to 44th overall, were the only movers among the continent's five World Cup-bound representatives.

No country in the world game accrued more points than Burkina Faso - who amassed 21 - since the latest Men's Ranking was updated, although the Stallions climb just one place overall. They move 56th overall, and remain ninth in Africa.

Africa's top four sides are unmoved, with Tunisia (23rd), Senegal (27th), Democratic Republic of Congo (39th) and Morocco (42nd) all retaining their spots.

Egypt are in fifth, followed by Africa's champions Cameroon in 51st (sixth in Africa).

Nigeria head into the international break in 52nd place in the world, with Ghana 54th and South Africa up one place to 76th.

Elsewhere, there's slight upwards movement for Cape Verde, Mali and Congo-Brazzaville, although Zimbabwe are the continent's biggest fallers - dropping three spots to 108th.

In the overall standings, Germany remain top, with Brazil, Portugal, Argentina and Belgium completing the top five.
