Sean Dyche: Arsenal winner a horrible goal, Burnley still have survival belief

Sean Dyche has criticised his Burnley side for conceding a "horrible goal" in the 1-0 Premier League defeat to Arsenal on Saturday.

Aaron Ramsey slammed home the only goal of the game at Turf Moor on the half-volley after the Clarets failed to clear the ball inside their own box.

George Boyd missed a glorious chance to equalise and Danny Ings also came close for Burnley, but Arsenal managed to record an eighth successive victory to leave the hosts two points from safety.

"Awful goal, awful goal from start to finish," Dyche said. "In the first half we didn't adapt, we almost gave them a feel of the game by not making good decisions, including the decision that led to the goal.

"It was a horrible goal really. But beyond that, the first half levelled out and I don't think they had many chances. We just couldn't find that moment of real quality to win the match or get something from it."

The defeat leaves Burnley in 19th position, but survival is still a very realistic prospect given other results on Saturday's fixture list -- including a defeat for Hull.

And Dyche is hopeful things will start looking up, after going three games without a win since the victory over Manchester City.

"We feel we have quality,'' he added. "We've got different challenges coming but they won't be like the ones we've had recently.

"We've got good belief in our performances. We still need to add quality to our performance, but there's certainly a will and a demand to go and get more points this season."
