Brentford have not denied a report that they will sack manager Mark Warburton in the summer even if they win promotion to the Premier League.

Warburton has guided the west London club from League One to the Championship playoff places since taking over from Uwe Rosler last season, but a report in The Times claimed he would be on his way out at the end of the season.

A Brentford statement said Warburton remained their manager but added that they were club that planned for "various possible eventualities."

The Times report said officials had met Rayo Vallecano coach Paco Jemez for talks.

But Warburton, preparing his side for a clash with promotion rivals Watford on Tuesday night, said the speculation had not harmed the focus of either him or his players.

PA Sport quoted him as saying:  "The club have made a statement and everything is contained within it. My only focus is on the team and the match tonight.

"The team have done well, and I understand the club have to plan for any eventuality -- it is a very forward-thinking club. But my only focus is a big game tonight."

Warburton's success at Griffin Park has seen the Bees rise to their highest league position for decades, and the club statement said: "Given Mark's increasing profile, we recognise that he will deservedly have turned the heads of other clubs.

"As with every other sensibly-run club, we plan for various possible eventualities.

"We are a progressive club who do talk to other people within the game to learn about other ways of doing things, and to consider novel strategic approaches to the game.

"It would not be in the club's interests to disclose any of those discussions, but Brentford FC do want to confirm that Mark Warburton remains our manager."

The statement went on to praise the team for their "magnificent" performances this season and said: "That is primarily down to Mark's leadership.

"Mark will continue to lead the club in its push for Premier League football."
