Brazil boss Tite said he applauded Bolivia hero Carlos Lampe during Thursday's 0-0 draw in La Paz, but admitted, while the goalkeeper deserved credit, he was upset with the result.
Lampe made 11 saves -- many of them of clear Brazil chances -- in the stalemate, tying the record for the most of any keeper in a CONMEBOL qualifier over the past two cycles.
And Tite told reporters after the match, he couldn't help but congratulate the Huachipato keeper, even though he kept the Selecao from three points.
He said: "Credit to Lampe, let's be honest. There was a moment in the second half that I turned to the stands and applauded, even being very angry. I made it a point to speak with Lampe [after the match].
"To play here in La Paz and against Bolivia's quality is very difficult. Strategically I'm happy because my team exchanged possession and was vertical in the final third. There were games that we produced much less than today.
"I thank everyone for the logistics, for everything that helped us feel the altitude less and allowed us to perform. I am happy with the performance, but upset with the result."
Brazil created a number of great chances, but Neymar and Gabriel Jesus were especially wasteful -- the latter ending a disappointing day by heading a point-blank header at Lampe near full-time.
"Three chances that I'm not used to missing," Gabriel said after the match. "I am still training headers, improving, but I can't miss, I know.
"I went there and congratulated him [Lampe] on the saves. We knew it wouldn't be easy, we had clear chances, but we couldn't expand the goal. We leave with heads raised, because we fought, ran and managed to hold their team."
