Douglas Costa says Brazil have grown up since Tite took over national team

Douglas Costa believes the Brazilian national team has "grown up" since the arrival of new manager Tite, who replaced Dunga in June 2016.

Brazil failed to make the last four of the Copa America in 2015 and the Centenario edition of the tournament in 2016, leading to the sacking of then-manager Dunga.

Tite has led Brazil to six-straight CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying wins since taking over, leaving the Selecao atop the region's standings with four more points than nearest-chaser Uruguay.

Costa told Omnisport: "I think after the new coach came in, he made big changes and the team grew up.

"Now we are in a sensational way and we have to continue with this form until 2018 in Russia to maybe win the world title.

"This is in the plan which I have for my career and my life, to one day win the Champions League and the World Cup."

Costa and Brazil return to WC qualifying action in March as they travel to Uruguay and then host Paraguay.

The 26-year-old also revealed how his game has benefitted since a summer of 2015 move from Shakhtar Donetsk, thanks in large part to playing alongside former France international Franck Ribery.

"I am trying to do everything that Ribery did for Bayern because he is a guy I like so much," Costa said. "He is my friend, who gives me lots of advice. We talk a lot and I think the exchanges between us are very good.

"I have been here for a year and a half now -- I am very happy and well adapted.

"Munich is a great city and everybody is treating me very well. Of course it was Pep Guardiola who brought me here and gave me the confidence to play in the team, but with [Carlo] Ancelotti I have found my place in the team too."

Bayern are once again atop the Bundesliga table, but they have been challenged this season from an unlikely place: newly promoted RB Leipzig, who are three points out of first.

And the Bavarian giants also have an eye on the resumption of Champions League play, where Costa and company will face Arsenal in the round of 16.

Costa said: "Leipzig have already shown that they are high-level players, who have good focus and a desire to win.

"It has been interesting to see Leipzig get to play and impose their rhythm in that way and that makes the competition more interesting.

"Arsenal are a tough opponent. We hope to get as far as possible in the Champions League.

"Although we did not start 100 percent perfect in Europe this season, step by step we are getting into the right rhythm. It will be an interesting game."
