Neymar went to ground after being accidentally elbowed during a one-v-one situation with a Bolivian defender near the touchline.
With the right side of his face streaming blood, the former Santos star received medical attention for the gash but was ultimately subbed off for Willian on 69 minutes.
Neymar had already received a 36th-minute yellow card that will rule him out of Tuesday's final October qualifier against Venezuela.
