Carlos: I've learnt from the best (3:43)

Former Brazil international Roberto Carlos says he's learned enough from the men he played under during his playing career to make sure he can be a successful head coach. (3:43)

Brazil legend Roberto Carlos has said it is his ambition to coach the national side one day -- but stressed that he must shine at club level to have a chance of doing so.

The former left-back, who won the 2002 World Cup with his country, praised his countryman Neymar and said the Barcelona star was "the best player in the world at this moment."

"In my future, if I do things right, I'm sure there'll be clubs interested in having Roberto Carlos as their coach," the ex-Real Madrid star told www.sc.qa.

"I'm a modern coach, in terms of my training style. I'm learning a lot, I watch lots of training sessions, follow lots of leagues from around the world. I'm taking things little by little.

"My goal is to be Brazil coach one day. To get there, I have to make history at clubs. We'll see what clubs are interested in me."

Roberto Carlos has so far coached at Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala, in Turkey at Sivasspor and Akhisar Belediyespor and at Indian Super League outfit Delhi Dynamos.

He described Neymar as a player who had "improved very fast" and added: "When Messi was out [with injury], Neymar took on the responsibility for the team and is playing spectacularly well."

And he said he believed the appointment of his ex-Madrid teammate Zinedine Zidane as coach at the Bernabeu would be a positive step, adding: "As a player, he was phenomenal. He always earned victories, titles and triumphs. That's Zizou's mentality.

"I'm sure Zidane will win big titles with Madrid," Roberto Carlos added. "The players need to be a happy team, a team that has fun on the pitch, shows they're friends, that listen when Zizou talks, that understand what Zizou wants."
