Dunga happy with friendly win but says Brazil can do better

Brazil coach Dunga was satisfied with his side's 1-0 win over Costa Rica on Saturday but saw plenty of room for improvement.

Hulk's 10th-minute goal was the only breakthrough, though the Selecao came close a number of times.

Brazil were playing their first game since June and their disappointing Copa America, where they lost to Paraguay on penalties in the quarterfinals, and Dunga said the lack of finishing was to be expected.

"It's normal after a long time off," Dunga said after Saturday's game in Harrison, New Jersey. "You can't have a perfect game. Lot of things we practiced in training came out well and we can do them even better. I liked how this team performed.

"We created a lot of chances. We would have liked to score more goals, but a lot of times in soccer, one is enough. It's still three points."

Dunga decided to rest Neymar, only bringing him on in the 82nd minute after the star player limped out of training earlier this week.

Kaka, Rafinha, Lucas Moura and Philippe Coutinho were also among the substitutes as Dunga used the game to get a look at his squad.

"It was good. All the players that started did well," Dunga said. "Rafinha did well. Kaka did well. Danilo. But we can get better.

"It's normal after four days of training they don't do everything right. Overall it was a good performance."

Brazil next play the United States in a friendly on Tuesday before opening World Cup qualifying.

"We have to think of qualifying," Dunga said. "We have to give opportunities to the other players and look for other aspects of the training. We have to prepare for the next games of qualifying in the future."
