Marcelo, Philippe Coutinho added to Brazil squad for friendlies

Real Madrid full-back Marcelo and Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho are among four additions to the Brazil squad for September friendlies, the country's federation has announced.

Coach Dunga announced his squad two weeks ago for games against Costa Rica on Sept. 5 and the United States three days later, but now he has made four changes over the past 48 hours.

Marcelo will replace the injured Filipe Luis, who picked up a hamstring in training with Atletico Madrid this week and will not travel

Coutinho, Barcelona's Rafinha and Monaco full-back Fabinho were also late additions to the squad, replacing the injured Ramires, Oscar and Dani Alves.

Neither Ramires nor Oscar were in Chelsea's squad during Saturday's surprising defeat to Crystal Palace. Barcelona's Dani Alves suffered a groin strain against Athetlic Bilbao last week.

The updated squad:

Goalkeepers: Jefferson (Botafogo), Marcelo Grohe (Grêmio), Alisson (Internacional)

Defenders: David Luiz (PSG), Marquinhos (PSG), Miranda (Inter Milan), Gabriel Paulista (Arsenal), Daniel Alves (Barcelona), Marcelo (Real Madrid), Danilo (Real Madrid), Douglas Santos (Atlético Mineiro)

Midfielders: Luiz Gustavo (Wolfsburg), Fernandinho (Manchester City), Elias (Corinthians), Rafael Alcântara (Barcelona), Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool), Willian (Chelsea), Roberto Firmino (Liverpool), Kaká (Orlando City), Lucas Lima (Santos)

Forwards: Neymar (Barcelona), Lucas (PSG), Hulk (Zenit St. Petersburg), Douglas Costa (Bayern Munich)
