Borussia Dortmund to face LAFC in May, return to U.S. in July for ICC

Borussia Dortmund will make two trips to the United States this summer, the Bundesliga club confirmed to ESPN FC.

The club announced plans last month to play a friendly against MLS expansion club LAFC as a ceremonial opening to Banc of California Stadium, even though LAFC are scheduled to begin playing games there at the end of April.

On Monday, Dortmund confirmed that they will travel to California after the domestic season, with kicker reporting that the friendly will go ahead on either May 21 or May 22.

Although that game would mark the first stateside club appearance for United States international Christian Pulisic, Dortmund's likely World Cup starters, such as Germany's Mario Gotze and Marco Reus, Japan's Shinji Kagawa and Switzerland's Roman Burki, may not make the trip.

Dortmund will then return to the United States following the World Cup to take part in the International Champions Club and could play three games on the eight-day long trip, which is scheduled to begin on July 20.

One of the possible opponents during that tour could be Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, according to kicker.
