Andre Schurrle open to winter move away from Borussia Dortmund - agent

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Andre Schurrle is considering a move away from the club in the winter window, according to his agent.

"Principally, Andre wants to play as much as possible and when playing time is not warranted, then it would be negligent not think about how the future could look like and where he could get more playing time," Schurrle's agent Ingo Haspel told Sky on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old joined Dortmund from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2016 for a club-record signing fee of €30 million but has failed to become an integral part of the side, featuring in only 32 of a possible 77 games.

The former Chelsea attacker was ruled out for an accumulated 35 games due to several injuries since joining the Ruhr side, but when fit he has often been kept out of the starting formation with players like the now-departed Ousmane Dembele or Christian Pulisic being preferred over the 2014 World Cup winner.

Schurrle wants to look "how things will develop in the upcoming weeks and will assess where he could get more playing time," according to his agent.

He has 57 international caps for Germany and assisted teammate Mario Gotze for the World Cup-winning goal in the final against Argentina in 2017. However, Schurrle's chances to be a part of Germany's squad in Russia in 2018 have crumbled since joining the Black and Yellows, with the mooted departure ostensibly a way of getting back on Joachim Low's radar for the national team setup.
