Christian Pulisic thinks he can do better despite goal for Dortmund

DORTMUND, Germany -- Christian Pulisic said he was not entirely happy with his performance despite scoring and providing two assists in Borussia Dortmund's 6-0 win over Darmstadt on Saturday.

U.S. international Pulisic, who turns 18 on Sunday, had made his first appearance of the season when he started in Dortmund's 6-0 win at Legia Warsaw in midweek but said after that match that there was room for improvement.

Asked whether he was more satisfied with his showing against Darmstadt, Pulisic told reporters including ESPN FC: "To be honest, I'm not overly happy with my first half. The second half went much better for me, as I was more involved then."

Pulisic, who made it 3-0 on 54 minutes, played on both flanks on Saturday, having started on the right before switching to the left.

"I feel pretty comfortable on both sides," he said. "It was a nice switch to go over to the left just to look at it a little bit differently and it worked out."

The American was linked with a move to Liverpool during the summer transfer window, but he has two years remaining on his Dortmund contract and said he wasn't concerned about his future.

"I'm just focusing on my season, I'm just gonna keep playing," he said. "I don't personally deal with the negotiations."

Pulisic's teammates on the U.S. national team wished him a happy 18th birthday before this weekend, though he will likely be teased about choosing to spend it at a Justin Bieber concert in Cologne.

"I'm very excited, another birthday -- it's pretty crazy," he said. "I'm very excited to go to the concert with some friends and family."
