Mario Gotze's return to the Borussia Dortmund squad has been delayed until after the international break, coach Thomas Tuchel has said. Speaking at a news conference ahead of his side's opening Bundesliga game at home to Mainz, Tuchel said: "He could play, but we decided that it's too early." Other than Gotze, the only absentees from the squad will be long-term absentee Marco Reus and the two members of Germany's Olympics squad -- Sven Bender and Matthias Ginter. Germany international midfielder Gotze was not in the squad for the Super Cup game against his former club Bayern Munich or the DFB-Pokal tie against Trier because of muscle problems. Tuchel also announced his decision to appoint left-back Marcel Schmelzer, 28, as the club's new captain in succession to Mats Hummels. He said: "It's a very natural thing. He is a role model here, and it's logical consequence."
