Borussia Dortmund are looking forward to meeting the team they beat to reach the final of the Champions League in 2013 on their return to Europe's elite club competition.
The Westphalians were drawn in Group F alongside Real Madrid, Sporting Lisbon and Legia Warsaw, and that tie with the Spaniards evoked many fond memories.
"For me the highlights are definitely our games against Real Madrid," said Dortmund's general manager Hans-Joachim Watzke on his club's official website.
Real gained revenge for that defeat just less than a year later as they beat Dortmund in the quarterfinals on their way to victory over Atletico Madrid in the final, and the coach of the Bundesliga side admitted he had almost expected to be handed a trip to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
"It's become something of a classic playing against Real," he said. "But we're looking forward to facing the defending champions.
"We were all full of excitement in anticipation of this draw and we've got an attractive group with some tough and attractive opponents at the same time."
Dortmund will not be taking Warsaw lightly either, even if they will be considered the outsiders in the group, if not because of their seeding.
"They are the first Polish side in the group phase in 20 years so that means something," said Dortmund defender Marcel Schmelzer.
"We're warned, but of course we want to get through this group."
