Ilkay Gundogan misses Borussia Dortmund training with another injury

Manchester City target Ilkay Gundogan has missed training at Borussia Dortmund with a minor injury and has started only one match since the goalless draw with Bayern Munich in early March.

Germany international Gundogan is under contract at Borussia Dortmund until 2017, but the midfielder has been strongly linked with a transfer to Manchester City ever since his representatives were pictured meeting City's director of football Txiki Begiristain in Amsterdam in March.

Reports have claimed there is already an agreement in principle to sign Gundogan, but his representatives have said the 25-year-old has not agreed a deal.

Following his appearance in Dortmund's goalless draw with Bayern Munich on March 5, Gundogan's time on the pitch has been limited. He has started only one match and came off the bench as a late substitute in a further three.

The midfielder missed the rest of March with a foot injury and also had to drop out of the Germany squad when they faced England and Italy.

Last weekend, Gundogan made the bench but remained as an unused substitute on his return from another minor injury as Dortmund beat Wolfsburg 5-1.

However, the midfielder did not take part in Borussia's training session ahead of their match at Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday and is, according to kicker, currently nursing a minor knee injury.

The Germany international had been expected to leave the Westfalenstadion last summer, but he eventually agreed to prolong his deal by 12 months.

Borussia Dortmund are second in the Bundesliga, trailing Bayern Munich by five points, and will meet Pep Guardiola's team in the German Cup final in Berlin on May 21.
