Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang not distracted by Lewandowski battle

Borussia Dortmund forward forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has said he is not interested in the race for the Torjagerkanone, the prize for the Bundesliga top scorer, but would rather continue winning league games.

With 15 match days left, Bayern Munich lead the Bundesliga table by eight points ahead of rivals Dortmund.

Bayern have picked up 17 wins, and have dropped only five points, meaning they have collected 91.23 percent of all possible points.

Dortmund, meanwhile, have won 77.19 percent, and could reach a maximum of 87.25 should they win all their outstanding games.

While Thomas Tuchel's side are statistically the fourth best team in the top five European leagues, they face an uphill task to prevent Bayern's fourth consecutive league title.

Dortmund forward Aubameyang, however, remains on course to beat Robert Lewandowski to the Torjagerkanone.

He has struck 20 to the Pole's 19 goals, with the Bayern striker narrowing the lead during the first two matches of 2016 with four goals to the Gabon international's two.

But Aubameyang told kicker that he is not interested in the race for the Bundesliga top scorer prize.

"It's secondary whether I am in front of Lewandowski or not. It's of higher priority that we continue to win our matches," the 26-year-old said, adding that he will not analyse his total until after the season.

Despite his impressive tally this term, Aubameyang has had his off days, particularly away from the Westfalenstadion where he has not scored since Dortmund's 3-1 loss at Hamburg in mid-November.

"It's important to remain focused," Aubameyang said. "And things will go well again."

Dortmund visit third-placed Hertha Berlin on Saturday, and could increase their lead to the teams behind them to 13 points.
