Marco Reus uncertain for Borussia Dortmund's derby against Schalke

Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus' status for Sunday's match against Schalke is uncertain after coming off at half-time with an injury in the Bundesliga side's 4-0 defeat of FK Qabala in their Europa League group stage match on Thursday.

Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel confirmed the German international was substituted due to a knock, but wouldn't provide details of the injury.

"He lost his balance in a challenge and felt a pull in the groin area. That happened shortly before he scored our first goal," Tuchel said.

"He wanted to continue playing until half-time. The injury is in a different location to the previous problems. It is still too early to say anything about Sunday's match.

"Maybe he'll be sidelined through injury, maybe he'll be able to play."

Reus began the rout in the 28th minute, followed by goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Sergei Zenjov and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Tuchel explained his side were forced to make tactical tweaks early to find their footing and begin producing goals.

"We had to react to the fact that our opponents were defending asymmetrically in a 3-4-2-1 formation, a different formation to the first match," Tuchel added.

"We wanted to build up pressure from the back early on through Matse [Matthias] Ginter and Mats Hummels, especially as Julian Weigl was being marked.

"In the second half our positional play and our passing sharpness were better. We saw the game out well."
