Bolton first team squad unpaid for November amid financial turmoil

Bolton Wanderers have confirmed that they have not yet paid their first team squad players their wages for November.

The news, amid growing financial uncertainty at the Championship club, comes hours before they take on Brentford in a Monday night home game.

A club statement said the situation "is due to the ongoing situation surrounding the club's ownership off the field."

Trevor Birch, an adviser to the Bolton board and owner, said: "This is due to a short-term funding issue. We are working hard behind the scenes and hope to have this resolved in a quick and timely manner.

"I will be meeting the players tomorrow to update them."

The Bolton News said it believed the Professional Footballers' Association "has been called in on behalf of around two dozen affected players."

Bolton owner Eddie Davies wants to sell the club, which has losses of almost £1 million a month.

Davies has said he will write off loans worth around £175m in order to attract potential buyers.

However, he has said that, while the search for a buyer goes on, he will not provide further funding.

Bolton, who were relegated from the Premier League in 2012, are bottom of the Championship table.
