FA charges Bolton boss Neil Lennon over referee comments

Neil Lennon has been charged by the Football Association for misconduct in relation to comments made to the media following Bolton's 4-3 Championship defeat on Saturday at QPR.

The under-pressure Bolton manager called referee Darren Drysdale an "absolute disgrace," adding: "I've never seen a more biased performance from a referee in a long time.

"He gave QPR everything he possibly could, I was so frustrated with that."

The FA alleges that Lennon's remarks "constitute improper conduct in that they allege and/or imply bias on the part of the match official, and/or bring the game into disrepute, in contravention of Rule E3(1)."

He has until 6 p.m. BST on Thursday to respond to the charge.

QPR eventually defeated Bolton when Jay Emmanuel-Thomas scored their fourth goal in the fourth minute of injury time, leaving Lennon's team 22nd in the Championship after 10 games.
