Philadelphia Union, Sporting Kansas City advance to U.S. Open Cup final

S├ębastien Le Toux added to his record US Open Cup goal tally as he helped Philadelphia to a 1-0 victory over Chicago and put the Union back in the title game.

The Philadelphia Union and Sporting Kansas City advanced to the U.S. Open Cup final after winning their respective semis on Wednesday.

Philadelphia, who won a draw to determine home-away priority before the semifinals were played, will serve as hosts for the Sept. 30 event.

Finalists last year, Philly extinguished the Chicago Fire's Open Cup hopes with a 1-0 victory at PPL Park.

Substitute Kennedy Igboananike hit two brilliant late goals to help the Chicago Fire beat Orlando City SC and earn a spot in the U.S. Open Cup semifinals.

The Fire dominated Orlando throughout the match, but were still level until Igboananike scored in the 87th and 90th minute to seal the win.

Union hold on to beat Red Bulls on penalties, SKC drop Houston 3-1

The Philadelphia Union advanced to the semifinals of the U.S. Open Cup by outlasting the New York Red Bulls 4-3 on penalties on Tuesday.

After the game finished 1-1 at the end of extra time, Fernando Aristeguieta sent in the winning penalty for the Union.

The Union played down a man for more than an hour after Conor Casey was shown a straight red card for a late tackle on Red Bulls defender Connor Lade.
