Transfer Talk: Man City preparing shock move for suddenly out-of-favour Isco
With the winter window opening soon, the rumour mill is beginning to gather pace. Who will be moving where come January? Transfer Talk has the latest.
TOP STORY: Man City to offer Isco an escape route from Madrid?
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is set to try his luck with Real Madrid in the hope of luring Isco away from the Spanish capital.
Mundo Deportivo claims that City, who have had interest in Isco before, are monitoring the Spaniard's situation intently at the moment. The 26-year-old has played just 36 minutes in Santiago Solari's four games in charge of Los Blancos and has a known admirer in Guardiola.
Isco has two goals in 12 games this season for Madrid but is a world-class talent that any club would welcome with open arms. Could the rich get richer? The rest of the Premier League probably hopes not.
22.09 GMT: That's going to bring Saturday's live edition of Transfer Talk to a close. Thanks very much for joining us, and be sure to check back in a few short hours when we return with the latest gossip pulled from Sunday's back pages.
20.43 GMT: FC Dallas manager Oscar Pareja is set to leave the Major League Soccer side for a taste of Liga MX, with Goal reporting the 50-year-old former Colombia international will take over at Club Tijuana.
19.27 GMT: Brendan Rodgers has his eyes on his former club as Celtic are monitoring 23-year-old Swansea right-back and Wales international Connor Roberts, according to the Express.
18.11 GMT: While Arsenal and Tottenham have reportedly been interested in moving for Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly, the Mail reports that Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring the situation of the 24-year-old Ivorian.
16.55 GMT: Despite only arriving on Merseyside in the summer, Fabinho could already be on his way out of Liverpool. The Express cites Italian outlet Sport Mediaset as reporting that Juventus are rivaling AC Milan for the Brazilian midfielder's signature, with the Premier League club looking to recoup all the £40m they shelled out on the former Monaco man.
15.39 GMT: The Star cites Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo as reporting that Barcelona have cooled their interest in Paul Pogba, and that if the club is going to spend £l00m on a new midfielder, Ajax's Frenkie de Jong is a more natural fit for their Total Football. Breathe a little easier, Manchester United fans.
14.26 GMT: Eliaquim Mangala is apparently still a Manchester City player -- we only realised that when the French defender was linked to Inter Milan by Tuttomercatoweb alongside Tottenham's Jan Vertonghen and Diego Godin of Atletico Madrid.
Mangala is out of contract next summer so would be a cheap option, but he's also not played since February when he was on loan at Everton. What's "rusty" in French?
14.00 GMT: Roma striker Patrick Schick has been linked with Arsenal but says he has no intention of leaving.
"The rumours of the market are just speculation," he told Gazzetta dello Sport. "I have everything very clear in mind, I want to stay in Rome, respect the contract and get on top."
13.09 GMT: Inter Milan forward Yann Karamoh joined Bordeaux on a loan deal in the summer but now his performances are starting to attract some attention.
The 20-year-old Ivorian has caught the eyes of West Ham and Arsenal, say Tuttomercatoweb, and an offer of around €15m might be enough to land him.
12.07 GMT: Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld started for Belgium in the UEFA Nations League win over Iceland and Man United boss Jose Mourinho was there to watch him. Indeed, with the defender available for £25.4m next summer, the Evening Standard say "the prospect of negotiating a cut-price fee for Alderweireld could see him move to the top of Mourinho's agenda."
11.51 GMT: As if PSG really need him involved, Arsene Wenger has reportedly given a glowing reference of Aaron Ramsey to their boss Thomas Tuchel.
Paris United claim the pair spoke recently and Ramsey was one of the subjects of conversation. Perhaps the former Gunners boss is looking for a new scouting role in Paris?
11.29 GMT: Monaco are going through a tough time at the moment. Even with Thierry Henry installed as coach, they are still losing and now striker Radamel Falcao wants out.
Marca claim the Colombian has "offered his services to Real Madrid in the past few days."
Of course they can always say no. In fact, after his dismal loan spell at Man United, they might well do.
10.46 GMT: One player who might be leaving Napoli is Elseid Hysaj after his agent Mario Giuffredi claimed Chelsea are interested in the right-back.
"Chelsea in for Hysaj? If you see Napoli are playing [Kevin] Malcuit and hear they're looking at other players, it means there are also enquiries," he told Radio CRC.
"Those who say otherwise are misinformed. Hysaj is a player who can do well in English football, given he's very physical and being watched by big clubs. Is he worth €50m? He's worth €60m for me."
10.27 GMT: Napoli want a new striker and possibly an old face may be returning. Edinson Cavani remains their main target -- President Aurelio De Laurentiis has never hidden that desire -- but Tuttosport suggest that Lazio's Ciro Immobile is another option.
09.51 GMT: Sometimes a transfer rumour comes along that just makes us laugh out loud...
This time, we have the incredibly hopeful Newcastle Chronicle reporting that "Newcastle United are monitoring Serie A star Krzysztof Piatek ahead of the January window."
Ok, yes, that's the same Piątek who has been banging in the goals for Genoa this season, nicknamed the 'new Robert Lewandowski' and had the likes of Barcelona, Bayern, Chelsea and Man United all following him.
The Chronicle claim the Poland striker is "valued at £14m ahead of the winter trading period" which is INCREDIBLY short of the £45m pricetag Genoa have reportedly placed on him. But there's always hope. They did get Alan Shearer and Michael Owen after all...
09.00 GMT: Arsenal are reportedly keeping an eye on Poland teenager Sebastian Walukiewicz. The 18-year-old defender plays for Pogon Szczecin and has been tipped to break into the senior national team soon. Football.London says that Barcelona are also keen.
Pulisic set for Chelsea?
Christian Pulisic is an angry young man, but perhaps his mood would be lightened by a move to Chelsea?
The Dortmund midfielder is one of the most sought-after talents in the game and, at only 20, has plenty of years left to grow and become one of the best in the world. However, his contract expires in 2020 and Dortmund may wish to cash in on him.
Enter Chelsea, says the Daily Mail. With the Blues reportedly keen to tie up a deal in January before the threat of a transfer ban from FIFA over "alleged recruitment of under-age players" can be considered.
Gerrard eyeing reunion with Skrtel
Could the long-long-rumoured reunion of ex-Liverpool teammates Steven Gerrard and Martin Skrtel come to fruition in January?
CNN Turkey claims that Rangers have not given up in their pursuit of the Fenerbahce defender. The 33-year-old Slovakian played eight seasons alongside Gerrard at Anfield and would provide a veteran influence and a defensive boost to a club that is hoping to knock Celtic off their perch atop the Scottish Premier League.
This one was rumoured all summer long, so we'll see if Gerrard can get a deal over the line this January.
Inter set to join the fray for PSG's Rabiot
PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot has been rumoured to be moving away from Parc des Princes since the summer, with Barcelona and Arsenal two of the most tipped destinations.
According to Tuttosport, ex-Juventus sporting director Beppe Marotta could prove the decisive factor in Rabiot's next club. Marotta, who is reportedly set to take over at Inter in January, is keen on the French maestro and views him as a perfect fit in Luciano Spalletti's 4-3-3 formation.
The 23-year-old's contract is set to run out at the end of this season and Rabiot is free to negotiate with other clubs regarding a summer move, with Barcelona, Milan and Juventus also keen on signing him.
- MLS star Maxi Urruti could be headed back to Argentina. Newell's Old Boys vice-president Cristian D'Amico confirmed to Argentine paper El Ciudadano that Newell's are set to talk about reacquiring the 27-year-old forward.
Urruti played for Newell's between 2011-13 and last season bagged eight goals and seven assists for FC Dallas.
- Bayern Munich's Joshua Kimmich says highly rated Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz would "suit" Bayern.
After Germany's 3-0 win over Russia, Kimmich told reporters "I cannot buy him, but Kai Havertz is a player who would suit us well."
Bayern could use some midfield help with injuries to Corentin Tolisso and Kingsley Coman and due to the fact the six-time reigning Bundesliga champions currently trail Borussia Dortmund by seven points.
