Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers...

Martin Braithwaite to Middlesbrough

According to L'Equipe, Middlesbrough are targeting Denmark international Martin Braithwaite as they aim to return to the Premier League at the first attempt. The newspaper says Garry Monk's side are willing to give the 26-year-old a big salary to tempt him to move to the Riverside. The forward scored 11 goals in 34 Ligue 1 appearances for Toulouse last season, where he is under contract until June 2019.

Aymen Barkok to Arsenal

Arsene Wenger is looking to bring in a second player from the Bundesliga this summer, according to German news outlet Spox. After the signing of Schalke's Sead Kolasinac, the latest Arsenal transfer target from Germany is Aymen Barkok. The 19-year-old made 18 Bundesliga appearances in his debut season for Frankfurt, scoring twice. And, an initial offer from the Gunners that was below £10 million has reportedly been snubbed.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek to Newcastle

The Daily Mail reports that Ruben Loftus-Cheek is a Newcastle United transfer target. The midfielder wants to play regularly in the Premier League after failing to make a proper impact in Antonio Conte's first season at Chelsea. The midfielder made just six appearances in the league during the 2016-17 campaign. And with Tammy Abraham heading to Swansea City on loan, Rafa Benitez's side could be the next to sign a player from Chelsea on loan.

Javier Hernandez to West Ham

West Ham want to bring Javier Hernandez to the London Stadium, according to the Daily Telegraph. Slaven Bilic's hunt for a striker has been well documented. Last summer, they looked for a big name, but were disappointed in their pursuits of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Michy Batshuayi, Alexandre Lacazette and Carlos Bacca, bringing in Jonathan Calleri and Simone Zaza instead. Those two disappointed, so Bilic is hoping to finally solve his striking woes by bringing in the former Manchester United striker. The 29-year-old reportedly has a £13m release clause in his contract at Bayer Leverkusen.

Charly Musonda to Celtic

After spending the best part of two seasons on loan away from Chelsea at Real Betis, Charly Musonda is subject of Celtic transfer rumours in the Daily Record. Brendan Rodgers' side are thought to be preparing a £5m bid. The Celtic boss hasn't named Musonda, but admitted he is close to landing a playmaker, saying: "He is young but is a big talent who has got experience, it's good money that will be spent on him. The player I'm talking about is of substantial pedigree and quality." But with the Belgian given Eden Hazard's old squad number of 17 at Chelsea this season, perhaps he could surprise everyone and stay at Stamford Bridge.
