Arsenal star Mesut Ozil assists Indian father in naming baby son
Mesut Ozil has added yet another assist to his tally by helping an Indian family name their newborn son.
Arsenal fan Inzamam Ul-Haq struck a bargain with his pregnant wife, Fida, that, should their baby be a boy, he'd be allowed to name the child after his favourite player.
Sure enough, little Mehd Ozil was born into the world on Dec. 29 last year.
Great honour to be the inspiration for the name of this child 😅 Sending my best wishes back to India and all the best for Mehd Ozil 😉🇮🇳🙏🏼 Hope Mehd will assist his family with lots of smiles and memories in the years to come 😬 #YaGunnersYa @Arsenal pic.twitter.com/YfMbcTChAZ— Mesut Özil (@MesutOzil1088) April 9, 2018
The Gunners media team met Inzamam during a recent trip to the Indian city of Kerala, and more specifically the football-obsessed district of Malappuram.
"We had decided if it was a boy, we will name him after some Arsenal player. Ozil was my first priority," Inzamam said.
Given that his father's second choice was utility man Mohamed Elneny, we'd suggest that the kid has got the better deal there.
