Sergio Aguero and David De Gea feature in clubs' longer Tweets

As you may have seen, the big news on the social media front today is that Twitter have increased the number of characters able to be used in tweets from 140 to 280.

Several football clubs have already made full use of the extended limit, with Celtic among the first.

Indeed, the Scottish club used all 280 characters to mark the breaking of their own British domestic record, having recently taken their unbeaten streak to 63 games.

Reading made full use of the extension to pay homage to a record-breaking team, specifically the Royals' vaunted 2005-06 squad, who won the Championship title with a record 106 points.

Aston Villa's offering was a little more sedate, with a humble tribute to their beloved old stadium.

Man City went big by harking back to the final seconds of the 2011-12 campaign.

Across town, Manchester United bowed to public pressure.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, newly-promoted Brighton saluted their lofty position three months into the season.

Milan took the time to gloat about their groaning trophy cabinet.

However, it was Borussia Monchengladbach that stole the show by seizing the opportunity to finally use their full club name on their social media platform.

As if "Borussia Monchengladbach" wasn't enough of a mouthful already!

Personally, we can't wait to see how Nooit Opgeven Altijd Doorzetten Aangenaam Door Vermaak En Nuttig Door Ontspanning Combinatie Breda (NAC Breda of the Netherlands) greet the news.

Chris covers the funny side of the game for ESPN FC in the Toe Poke blog.
