Lionel Messi, Gallagher brothers lead tributes to Sergio Aguero

Lionel Messi led the tributes to his Argentine teammate Sergio Aguero.

Lionel Messi and famous Manchester City fans Noel and Liam Gallagher led the tributes to Sergio Aguero after he became the club's all-time record goalscorer.

The striker scored his 178th goal for City in the 4-2 win over Napoli in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Aguero's Argentina teammate Messi, who is Barcelona's all-time record goalscorer, sent a personal video message to congratulate him after his achievement.

"I just want to congratulate you on this record," Messi said. "I'm very happy for you, you deserve it.

"Keep on scoring many goals to make the record even better. You know I love you loads and I wish you all the best. Big kiss, see you soon!"

Former Oasis guitarist Noel chose to sing his tribute with the words of "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" changed to "Kun Aguero".

Noel's brother and ex-bandmate Liam also sang a personalised tune with the words: "Sergio, congratulations for all your goals".

West Ham defender Pablo Zabaleta, who spent six seasons at the Etihad Stadium alongside Aguero, added: "Wow, what an incredible achievement that is mate, congratulations.

"Keep doing the job, keep scoring goals. Manchester City is so lucky to have you at the club and let the fans enjoy more goals."

Aguero was touched by the tributes, saying: "I'm really happy for these messages and I'd like to thank all of them."
